UNFORTUNATELY, WE CANNOT DISCUSS THE SUBMISSION OF ARTWORK WITHOUT DELVING INTO TECHNICAL LANGUAGE. WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO DISCUSS WITH YOU ANY ASPECT OF GETTING US PROPER ARTWORK AND WILL TRY TO MAKE THE PROCESS AS PAINLESS AS POSSIBLE.

• ARTWORK
  

Our art staff can create artwork based on your ideas or sketches. You can also submit your own designs for us to produce. If you provide hand drawn art please make it black and white outlines only. No pencil drawings, please. If appropriate, provide an additional colored copy.

We can accept artwork created by a variety of graphics programs and in several image file formats. To save you time and effort it is very important that you read below and/or speak with our art department before doing anything on a computer for art submission.

• COMMON MISTAKES AND MISPERCEPTIONS ABOUT WEBSITE ARTWORK:
  

JPG AND GIF at 72 dpi are the 2 main web page image formats. It is not  possible for us to work with art at such a low resolution. On a computer monitor these images appear crisp and clean. However, when these images are enlarged for printing the end result is an inferior bumpy, dotted and pixelated image. The old adage, Garbage in, Garbage out, applies here. The final results you will get will only be as good as the source material. Our art staff can use these images for reference only, never as final press-ready copy.

• GUIDELINES and INFO FOR SUBMISSION OF DIGITAL ARTWORK.

Accepted File Types:

PC Files Are Preferred. Most Windows based PC file formats work. Call for exact specifics if not covered here.

-Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw (Windows-PC) - PC files - All fonts must be converted to outlines/paths. - All fonts must be converted to outlines or the font files must be included. Images of photos or drawings placed into an AI file may not be useable. Please save CorelDraw files as Adobe Illustrator. Colors other than black should be spot colors, not CMYK. TIFFs should be sent as such, not embedded in Illustrator files.

-Adobe Photoshop(Windows-PC) - Image size should be 4"x4" for small designs and up to 13"x13" for large designs. Resolution should be 300 dpi. Image type should be BMP(Bitmap) for black and white images. Multi-color spot images should have each color placed on a separate layer. Black and white designs to which we are going to add colors should have all areas where color is to be added sealed.

-Quark Express 3.32, AdobePagemaker, and Microsoft Word and Powerpoint: These programs are really designed for other purposes, not for graphic prepress output. Please provide your files in their original format or eps.

• FINAL ARTWORK APPROVAL
  

When you have placed your order with us, if requested, we will provide you with a PDF file that shows the final artowrk to be used for printing.
